Environmental Policy
At Nick Brown Bags Ltd we strive to offer our clients both packaging & promotions that must be functional, attractive & economical whilst also reducing the impact on the environment.
Where possible we strive to offer cost effective alternatives to reduce your carbon foot print.
There are 7 key elements to our approach:
- Always where possible recommend reusable products.
- Reduce sizes & specifications to limit the harmful products contained within without altering the functionality of the product.
- Where possible suggest Biodegradable or compostable alternatives.
- Promote the use of recycled, reusable, recyclable materials.
- In house recycling procedures to limit the amount of waste going to landfill.
- Consider at all times the choices between recycled or sustainable products and inform our clients when recycled is not always the better option for the environment.
- Work in partnership with our factories & suppliers to constantly review our processes and the efficency of our plant.
As you may be aware it is not always easy to decipher the fact from the fiction, whilst some products may appear the best option from the outset they may turn out to be not quite what you had expected.
Polythene Bags: The industry has over the last 25 years strived to reduce the amount of material used in the manufacture of a polythene carrier bag, this helps to reduce the weight and the carriage cost to the environment. Polythene bags can now also be produced using degradable additives and Bio-degradable modified starches.
Paper Bags: seeing the reaction from the public to polythene bags the paper carrier bag industry has reacted quickly to any concerns we may have towards paper bags, paper bags can now be produced from recycled paper, approved paper and the new EU Flower label paper where the mills used are 100% carbon neutral. We are able to supply counter bags, SOS bags, block bottom bags, greaseproof bags, take away bags, Flat paper tape carriers, Twisted handle carriers, luxury laminated carriers and Kraft paper bags, all can in some way be supplied in a material more friendly to the environment.
Fabric shoppers: Cotton bags, canvas bags & Jute bags are all manufactured from 100% Organic fabric. The fabric shoppers main selling point is it can be used again and again, where once we may have needed 50-100 polythene bags we may now only need one fabric bag.
In times of recession we are afraid to say the environment issues seem to be put to one side, however Nick Brown Bags believe we can always offer an alternative, whilst our budgets may not stretch to the most ECO friendly product we can at all times offer something to help.
If we all do something great things can be done, if we all do nothing, nothing will be done.
Nick Brown Bags have over 27 years experience in the manufacture & sales of packaging products and carrier bags, whilst we don't pretend to have all the answers we should be able to help you make an educated informed decision in your purchase.
